Diamond Prospects Players of the week: 3/4-3/9

Each week during the High School season DP is going to announce a player, pitcher & team of the week. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. This week, dp was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state to start the year. We look forward to bringing this to you every week as we highlight these prospects and a team that performs at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps! -Pitcher of the Week- Hunter Howard – 2024, JL Mann HS, RHP, Radford signee: On Thursday night, Howard threw a game on the road versus a solid Woodruff Wolverines club. In seven innings, he punched out 13 batters, allowed only one hit and did not issue a walk. The Radford signee is off to a great start this season and his fastball reached 93 MPH at our Pro Day event prior to the start of the season. For the week, he batted .625, had two doubles, four RBI’s, four runs scored and also swiped two bags. Congratulations to Heriot on being named DP Player of the Week! -Honorable Mention- Tripp Hood – 2024, North Central HS, INF, Uncommitted: .625 AVG, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 SB Jaden Williamson – 2026, Dillon HS, 1B, Uncommitted: .750 AVG, 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI, 2 R -Previous Winners- Week Name High School Position Committed 2/26-3/3 Macon Leppert Blythewood C – 3/4-10 Aiden Heriot Camden OF – -Team of the Week- Camden HS: It was an impressive week for the Bulldogs as they finished the week 3-0 with two victories over Andrew Jackson and also topped Lugoff-Elgin in a 3-2 win. Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps! -Pitcher of the Week- Drew Hayes – 2025, Summerville HS, RHP/INF, College of Charleston commit: Hayes stole the show on Saturday with his performance on the bump! In his complete game effort, he hurled a no-hitter and lost the perfect game with a two-out walk. He tossed six innings and punched out eight batters with a fastball that topped at 86 MPH and a mid-70’s bender that filled up the zone! -Player of the Week- Macon Leppert – 2025, Blythewood HS, C, Uncommitted: Leppert and the Bengals participated in the Opterra Solutions Invitational and the LHH catcher had a big weekend at the plate! He batted .625 on the weekend where he collected two doubles and drove in three runs! Solid start to the season for this talented junior! -Team of the Week- Catawba Ridge Copperheads – 2024 IP Classic Champions: Though a couple of the game were close calls, the Copperheads left Georgetown Sunday afternoon on a four-game win streak in 2024 and the IP Classic Champions. The defending State Champions knocked off four quality opponents along the way: Summerville, Blue Ridge, TL Hanna & Laurens. Congrats to Catawba Ridge on being DP’s first “Team of the Week” in 2024!
