Each week during the High School season DP is going to announce a player, pitcher & team of the week. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. This week, dp was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state to start the year. We look forward to bringing this to you every week as we highlight these prospects and a team that performs at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps!

Hunter Phipps – 2024, Dutch Fork, RHP, College of Charleston signee: There were several big performances this past week in HS baseball but Phipps’s effort last week in region play got the nod. The CofC signee hurled 6.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R and tallied 15 punchouts. The Silver Foxes ace has been strong all season by turning in these stats: 22.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 39 K, .071 BAA with an ERA of 0.62. Airport HS: The Eagles concluded region play this past week by winning a region title and going a perfect 12-0. This past week they swept North Augusta and outscored region opponents this season by a total of 134-14. The Eagles have also reeled of twelve straight victories and have a season record of 15-1 as they enter Spring Break and begin the Forest Acres Classic today. Congratulations to Eagles HC Casey Bradwell and his club on being DP’s Team of the Week!
