Each Monday during the High School season DP is going to announce a player, pitcher & team over the previous seven-day period. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. This past week, dp was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state mid-year. We look forward to bringing this to you every Monday as we highlight these prospects and a team that perform at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps!

Austin Laughlin – 2024, Cardinal Newman, RHP, Wofford signee: A huge week for the Cardinals pitching staff and Laughlin was one of those stars. In the complete game effort, he punched out 14, allowed two hits and no runs. Congratulations to the Wofford signee for being DP’s Pitcher of the Week!

Jabari Flemon – 2024, Mid-Carolina: One of the top two-way players in the 2A classification had a huge week as the Rebels clinched a region crown. The USC Sumter signee batted .750, a double, 3 home runs, drove in a dozen teammates and scored seven runs. Congratulations to Jabari on winning DP’s Player of the Week!

St. James HS: DP got an extended look this past week at the Sharks, and they were able to complete a three-game sweep of Carolina Forest en route to a region crown. Pitching was the name of the game as they only allowed three runs all week. The Sharks conclude region play with a region record of 10-1 and an overall record of 15-5. Congratulations to this club and Head Coach Robbie Centracchio on being tabbed as DP’s Team of the Week!
