Each Monday during the High School season DP is going to announce a player, pitcher & team over the previous seven-day period. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. This past week, dp was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state mid-year. We look forward to bringing this to you every Monday as we highlight these prospects and a team that perform at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps!

Ian McCrary – 2025, DW Daniel, RHP, Uncommitted: This past week the Lions had a couple of huge region matchups versus one of the top ranked teams in 3A, the Crescent Tigers. McCrary delivered on Wednesday night as they were victorious by a score of 1-0. In his seven innings of work he allowed five hits, one walk and punched out nine batters. Congratulations to the junior on being tabbed DP’s Pitcher of the Week!

Caden Reeves – 2025, Chapin, C, Troy commit: .875 AVG, 2 HR, 2 2B, 6 RBI – A big week for the Troy commit. The Eagles grabbed two of three this past week from Dutch Fork and Reeves led the charge. He batted .875 with 2 HR’s 2 doubles and drove in six runs. Along with his abilities at the plate he held down the catching position at a very high level. Congratulations to Caden on being named DP’s Player of the Week!

Powdersville HS: The Patriots have reeled off five straight wins included a series sweep of the Wren Hurricanes this past week. The sweep gives them a region record of 6-0 with a couple of series to go. Finally, this club is back healthy and has all the pieces back to a problem for opponents in 3A. Congratulations to Wade Padgett and the Patriots for being tabbed as DP’s Team of the week!
