Each Monday during the High School season DP is going to announce a player, pitcher & team over the previous seven-day period. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. This past week, dp was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state mid-year. We look forward to bringing this to you every Monday as we highlight these prospects and a team that perform at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps!
-Pitcher of the Week-
Blane Jordan – 2025, Powdersville, RHP, Uncommitted: 7 IP, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K. In a winner-take-all game, Jordan delivered in a big way! He went the distance in a shutout effort versus the BHP Bears on Thursday night. In his seven innings of work, he scattered three hits, no runs and punched out six. Congratulations to this junior on winning DP’s Pitcher of the Week!

-Player of the Week-
Cole Bellinger – 2024, Greer, INF/RHP, Lander signee: A busy end of the year for Cole Bellinger. For the week, he had a .600 BA, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R and a SB. Getting it done with the bat was not the only thing he accomplished. He also went 7 innings, no runs, two hits and punched out eight in his outing. This effort earned him DP’s Player of the Week to close out the 2024 season!

-Team of the Week-
Fountain Inn HS: The Fury were in a situation going into the week where they had some work to do to get into the playoffs and they delivered! They completed a two-game sweep of Wren HS to punch their ticket to the playoffs for the first time in school history. The Fury ended the season with a region record of 6-4 and reeled off six straight region wins to end the year. Also, they have won their last eight contests overall to end the year with a regular season record of 15-8-1. Congratulations to Fountain Inn HC Blake Roland and his club on being DP’s Team of the Week. Fountain Inn will travel to Woodruff to begin the playoffs on Tuesday evening.
