Diamond Prospects Players of the week: 2/29-3/3

Each week during the High School season DP is going to announce a player, pitcher & team of the week. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. This week, dp was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state to start the year. We look forward to bringing this to you every week as we highlight these prospects and a team that performs at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Going forward, coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps!

-Pitcher of the Week-

HayesDrew throw22

Drew Hayes – 2025, Summerville HS, RHP/INF, College of Charleston commit: Hayes stole the show on Saturday with his performance on the bump! In his complete game effort, he hurled a no-hitter and lost the perfect game with a two-out walk. He tossed six innings and punched out eight batters with a fastball that topped at 86 MPH and a mid-70’s bender that filled up the zone!

-Player of the Week-

Macon Leppert – 2025, Blythewood HS, C, Uncommitted: Leppert and the Bengals participated in the Opterra Solutions Invitational and the LHH catcher had a big weekend at the plate! He batted .625 on the weekend where he collected two doubles and drove in three runs! Solid start to the season for this talented junior!

-Team of the Week-

Catawba Ridge Copperheads – 2024 IP Classic Champions: Though a couple of the game were close calls, the Copperheads left Georgetown Sunday afternoon on a four-game win streak in 2024 and the IP Classic Champions. The defending State Champions knocked off four quality opponents along the way: Summerville, Blue Ridge, TL Hanna & Laurens. Congrats to Catawba Ridge on being DP’s first “Team of the Week” in 2024!
