Diamond Prospects Showcase AC Flora High School – June 12-13, 2013 Print Application Diamond Prospects announces a two-day “open” showcase on Wednesday and Thursday, June 12-13, 2013 at Columbia’s AC Flora HS for 2014, 2015 and 2016 graduates. This showcase is designed for the player who possesses the abilities to play at the collegiate level or beyond. If you think you are that caliber of player, it would strongly benefit you to attend this event! TheDiamondProspects.com provides the #1 coverage of high school baseball in the state of South Carolina. We scout more prep baseball than anyone and write articles about the teams and players we see. We also conduct interviews with the top players across the Palmetto State, past and present. Our goal is to ensure that no player in our state gets overlooked! Diamond Prospects quickly became highly regarded among college coaches and professional scouts in the Tri-State area, many staff’s and scouts across the Carolina’s have told us that checking the site’s contents have become part of their morning routine! How can DP Showcases assist you? Unmatched exposure to the top decision-makers in our area, we’ll give you the opportunity to display your talents to the people who matter! Over 110 different schools or professional clubs attended at least one of our events in the past year… It puts you on the radar for Diamond Prospects to further publicize you and your high school team. Following the showcase, we’ll list the top 60 and Pop times, peak velocity’s and put together a top prospect list, all of this will be posted on the website for subscribers! Many of the top traveling teams in the Carolina’s will be on hand looking for players… Diamond Prospects will host two “invite-only” events in 2013, this showcase will ensure that you get an extended viewing in front of our staff… Understand this, it is never too early, or too late, to showcase yourself to coaches and scouts. Most colleges have a ‘follow list’ of players for each class, even freshmen! Kids are committing to schools earlier and earlier each year, make sure you don’t let this time in your life pass you by. All 16 of our ‘open’ showcases have been full before the deadline. It will, again, be limited to the first 150 players who sign-up. If you have baseball in your future beyond high school, you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity that could alter your career forever! In Baseball, Diamond Prospects Bonus #1: Following the morning workout, as the coaches and scouts are eating lunch, Diamond Prospects will provide you with the option of sitting in on “Recruiting 101”, a crash-course on the recruiting process. We will take approximately 45 minutes to counsel you through the maze that is often very confusing for players and their families. Bonus #2: DP will offer a scouting breakdown for players wanting more detailed feedback following their performance at the showcase. The info will provide players with a descriptive scouting report on pitching/swing mechanics, infield actions, arm actions and future projections of the player, etc. We’ll also recommend strategies for improvement to increase the player’s stock. You are free to leave after your games. -On Wednesday, Tim Perry will conduct a Recruiting 101 seminar for players and parents. He will touch on topics ranging from selecting a college, financial aid, the NCAA Clearinghouse to the MLB Draft. If you have not pre-registered for this seminar already, you may pay cash when you check-in, the cost is $25 per family. Note: The siminar will be held in the AC Flora indoor facility, we ask that you bring your own chairs to sit in the air-conditioned unit.   -Concessions will be available each day, courtesy of AC Flora HS. Recap: Diamond Prospects Showcase   By: Austin Alexander-July 20, 2006   Speed was all the talk on Thursday as 24 runners broke the 7.0 barrier in the 60-yard dash, not far behind were the couple dozen middle infielders who flashed quality actions during the defensive workout and had evaluator’s talking early on. Two players even made verbal commitments during the showcase! For the 30 coaches/pro scouts and 137 players in attendance, Thursday was a long, hot day between the lines but quality talent invaded USC’s Sarge Frye Field for a successful DP event!       Many names we knew were on hand for DP’s first-ever showcase; there were also a number of young players who burst onto the radar after a solid showing at USC.       During the twelve-hour showcase, coaches/scouts had the opportunity to evaluate every player running the 60, field and throw from their position, take batting practice and play in one game.     As mentioned, 24 players ran sub-7.0’s, ten guys under a 6.8, including Demetrius Washington’s (Silver Bluff, 2007) 6.53. During the defensive portion of the workout, one infielder after another stepped in and showed project-ability past high school. Three catchers recorded POP times below 2.0, including a showcase-best 1.83 by Jeffrey Campbell (Boiling Springs, 2008). Not far behind was Hunter Timmons (Camden, 2007) who gunned down three base-stealers in the same inning! Jeff Caskey (Conway, 2008) unofficially claimed the Homerun Derby title and ten pitchers worked in the mid-80’s or better on the Stalker Sport. Web gems galore were turned in too!       In the coming days we will compile all the information we gathered, crunch the numbers and rank the top runners, arms, infield actions, best round of BP and peak velocities. We’ll also confer with other evaluators to determine the top prospects and who helped themselves the most on Thursday.
