Fluor Field in Greenville was the place to be on Saturday when it comes to prep baseball in South Carolina. Four prestigious programs stepped out of region play to lock horns in a doubleheader. Lexington and Blythewood made the trip to the Upstate to square off with Wren and Mauldin. Next Saturday, Wren and Mauldin will return the favor and travel down to the Midlands. It was a “Chamber of Commerce” day on this St. Patrick’s Day in Greenville as temperatures held stead in the mid-70’s and there was an abundance of sunshine. It is always a great atmosphere at Fluor Field and today was no different! The concession stand was serving a variety of treats, music was on point, and the PA was excellent as always. All around the park there were St. Patrick’s Day celebrations going on, not to mention, a 5K race that ended on Fluor Field earlier in the day.
The first contest of the day began at 4:30 with Lexington facing off against Wren. For the nightcap, Blythewood would square off with Mauldin. Considering it being a non-region game and the end of grueling region week for all clubs, both contest moved along at a respectable pace.
