The Coastal Invitational to me is always the official start of the regular season. We never know at this time of year what type of weather we are going to have but we ended up with some great weather, some great baseball and an outstanding atmosphere all weekend long. There was a delayed start to the Tournament after a tragedy at Waccamaw so Thursday at 3:15 was the official start and they were off and playing.
Eight teams in one venue is a baseball person’s dream. There were a ton of prospects to see and some great games along the way. This is one of the best-run tournaments in the state, from top to bottom Waccamaw High School and their staff do a tremendous job and I still have to rate the concession stand in my top 5 of all-time! This tournament is also a wood bat tournament so it is nice to see these kids use the lumber. It does take some time for them to get adjusted to it, but overall a great weekend of baseball!
