By: Brendan Dougherty & Mike Williams - March 2-4, 2017

You can’t go wrong when you have two tournaments within 30 miles of each other and you can cover 14 teams in a 4 day period. It was not easy trying to coordinate who was going to which game but DP got to see the majority of both. Baseball at the Beach is another tournament that is first ...

NaturChem Preview

By: Andy Phillips – March 1, 2017 NaturChem personnel along with Coach Mark Bonnette (River Bluff HS) and Coach Brian Hucks (Lexington HS) held a press conference on Sunday, February 26and DP was on hand to take in the event. All twelve teams were represented along with two players per club that were available for a Q & A. The press conference was very informative and it gave local media outlets a chance to see which teams were participating. Each coach gave a brief overview of their team while trying not to show their hand during the press conference. Needless to say, the field is very strong this year. Many accolades were on the table, but one that stood out is eight of the teams participating are ranked in their prospective top 10 pre-season polls. On top of that there are 27 state titles between the teams participating in the tournament as well. The talent pool is also very strong with over 30 players committed to colleges or universities around the country. There will also be a rematch of the 2016 4A State Championship (JL Mann vs. Summerville) that should excite some fans. This game will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, March 3 @ RBHS. Saturday night will be an exciting night for the fans and kids to come out and see some big bats on display at River Bluff HS. The Homerun Derby starts @ 7:00 and get ready fans because this year’s field has some power guys that will impress. The tournament gets wrapped up on Sunday with the Championship game being played at Lexington County Stadium, the home of the Coastal Plains League Lexington County Blowfish. This tournament will not disappoint you with the talent that will be on display. These teams will definitely know where they stand after the tournament wraps up on Sunday. Pre-Season Rankings: Class of 2022

This group of freshmen already has a deep number of guys with previous varsity success on their resume...which has DP so excited in what this class may accomplish before they graduate in four years! A lot of games will pass between now and then, new names will emerge and some players, quite frankly, will not develop the way we presently view them. ...
