Each week during the High School season DP announces a player, pitcher & team of the week. The selection process is based on players stats, observations/recommendations from our staff and prep coaches who weigh in with a nomination. Once again, DP was able to lay eyes on quite a few teams across our state as the regular season begins to wind down. We look forward to continue bringing this to you every week as we highlight these prospects and a team that performs at a high level. As you know, these selections are never easy, but we will give it our best shot! Coaches who submit a viable candidate certainly helps!

Scout Gilfillan – 2025, Gaffney, RHP, Spartanburg Methodist signee: In what turned out to be Gilfillan’s final high school game, it was one to remember. In front of the home crowd in Gaffney, the SMC signee spun a complete game where he punched out 16 batters, allowed only three hits and gave up no runs. Congratulations to Scout Gilfillan for being DP’s final Pitcher of the Week for 2025!

Cameron Austin – 2025, Barnwell, OF/RHP, USC-Aiken signee: Since the start of his prep career, Austin has been a force with the pole in his hand. Last week, he was 9-for-10 with seven extra base hits including three home runs. He also collected 9 RBI’s. On Wednesday night he broke the school record with 19 career homeruns. He has also clubbed nine this season. Congratulations to this USC-Aiken signee for winning DP’s Player of the Week!

Indian Land Warriors: A lot of eyes were on Region 3-5A last week as the region title was hanging in the air! The Warriors lived up to the billing with a big sweep and they outscored their opponents 34-4 in a three-game thrashing. In a game to clinch the region they did that in impressive fashion with a 14-2 victory. Entering the playoffs the Indian Land has a record of 22-4. Congratulations to Hal Bagwell and his club for being name DP’s Team of the Week!
