-Michael McDonald-
McDonald is a 2008 graduate of Coastal Carolina University. While in college he worked for the Atlanta Braves doing pitching charts and video for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans for four years. After graduation, McDonald accepted an internship with Bill James and John Dewan’s statistical analysis company Baseball Info Solutions where he watched Major League Baseball games and input data that was then outsourced to Major League Baseball Teams, Sports Agencies, Baseball Websites and ESPN.
After finishing at Baseball Info Solutions, he then accepted an a Pro Scouting Internship with the Toronto Blue Jays where he did video, pitch charts, spray charts, statistical analysis, accumulate scouting reports, evaluate prospects in the Eastern League (AA), as well as other duties assigned to him by the coaching/scouting and player development staff.
McDonald was also an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays where he helped evaluate talent in North/South Carolina and Virginia for the MLB Rule V draft. In 2012-13, McDonald was an assistant coach at the East Coast Pro Showcase. He is now an associate scout for the New York Mets.
He has also spent time in Mexico learning to speak Spanish in an effort to communicate with Latin American athletes.
For the third year, McDonald will serve Diamond Prospects in 2014 as an area scout in the Coastal region.
