Tonight, DP strolled up I-85 and took in a doubleheader on the campus of Byrnes High School. The Rebels hosted Woodmont High School in what started as a hot afternoon, but as the sun set and clouds rolled in, it turned into a pleasant September evening.
Byrnes is a program that has been in the Upstate Fall League since it first started ten years ago, and Woodmont is making a return to the league with two clubs of its own. Tonight’s first game is one worth mentioning. Both schools rolled out predominantly younger guys and it was one of the cleanest games witnessed this fall. Strikes were plentiful, barrels were found, and solid plays were made. Hats off to these two teams for a well-played game and it was enjoyable to watch from the stands!
As he does every year, Byrnes head coach, Michael Maus, had his field in great shape and is always an excellent host when DP rolls in. Not only was the field looking good, the concession stand was on point! Great job by his staff and him by not only getting the skin prepped, but also teaching his guys to play the game the right way!
