PB’s Pro Log: Part III

PB’s Pro Log: Part III

By: Paul Bennett, August 5-August 25, 2006

Well, I’m writing now as we’re nearing the end of the season. What a summer it’s been!! We’ve got six games left in the regular season and, as of last night, we’re up five games in our division. We start our series with Elizabethton tonight-they’re the first place team in the other division so that makes this a potential preview of the championship series. We took two out of three from them last week at their place so this is going to be a huge series.

August has been a very good month, I’m still playing a good bit-mostly at second base with a night off here and there. I found out earlier this week that I will be going to instructional league in September. As much as I’d like to have a six month long off-season, being invited to instructional league means that the organization has taken an interest in developing you as a player-so that’s a very good thing.

Even though this has been the best summer of my life, I have a lot to look forward to in the next several weeks. We have a three game series in Burlington (the town that surrounds Elon where I went to college) starting Monday, so hopefully I will get to see my college coaches, old teammates and friends.

After that, I have several weeks back in Charlotte, and hopefully a long weekend in Charleston, to enjoy. Then it’s off to Orlando for a month of hard work and maybe some good golf.

Overall, I could not have imagined this summer going any better. We’ve got a great group of guys and some unbelievable players-this has already been the experience of a lifetime. I’ll write one final entry after the season is over to let you all know how it turns out.
