In a week where rain has blanketed our state, we are excited with any chance possible to catch a glimpse of young men playing baseball! The Grand Strand has been wet for days but fortunately we have The Ripken Experience at our disposal, turf and a wonderful staff to work with is a perfect formula.
Drenched sites at Loris and North Myrtle Beach High School’s set up a trifecta between a double-dip on Ebbets Field and a single contest at Polo Grounds. DP was on hand bouncing from those two venues while the future (11u-14u) of this area were playing on the youth fields! Several barrels made their way onto the HR Ticker at a place that is not easy to go deep! Ripken was the place to be on Wednesday night if you have a player along this coast.
In week two of the Grand Strand 'dp' Fall League, this scout got to take in two very competitive baseball games. And as always, for the Fall League, we do not focus on game recaps as the emphasis is the development and evaluation of prospects. With multiple guys playing double headers due to quarantine protocols to get these games in, 43 guys stepped between the lines in front of these eyes and below is who jumped off the diamond! As a running theme, the 'standings' got shook up a bit with a 10-9 Chiefs Gold win over the Pandas in the opening act, a 6-3 Panthers win over the Chiefs Blue in the second act and a 8-4 Flyers win over the Camels in the nightcap for those of you scoring at home!
