What a great fall evening to watch some baseball. With the MLB playoffs in full swing, DP was camped out up at Doug Kingsmore Stadium for our Fall League All-Star Games. Clemson has hosted this event for five years and we couldn’t have been more excited to be back on campus tonight!
With NCAA rule adjustments, we had to move our ASG up a couple of weeks for all college coaches to be able to attend. Out of 58 teams and over 700 kids, we did our best to get the right 75 players to perform on this stage. Nineteen of them were already committed and five of our top end arms did not throw so that left a lot of uncommitted players to dial in on.
The Tiger staff had music pumping as we walked in the gate at 3:45 pm. Weather was in the mid-70’s and field was in pristine condition, ready for some baseball to be played. Clemson had TrackMan running on the scoreboard all night which was much-appreciated for the guys posted up behind the plate. First pitch of game one was thrown at 5:30 pm so lets jump straight into it.
DP Note: Every year we walk away with some sort of ‘theme of the night’. This year’s theme was ‘Uncommitted Seniors’. Our 2020 class stole the show tonight leaving us with a list of seniors that will end up being committed before it is all said and done. Five of them probably walked out of the stadium with multiple offers. Solid showing out of our 2020 class.
Tip of the Cap I: DP would like to thank Head Coach Monte Lee and Director of Operations Brad Owens plus their supporting staff at Clemson that take the time to host this event. For five years running we have been fortunate to have such solid support from the Tiger staff and want to give a huge shout out to them. Thank you for another great night of baseball!
Tip of the Cap II: We would like to thank Anchor Bats for sponsoring our awards this year at the Clemson ASG. They provided tee-shirts, hats and a gift card for our individual awards for each team. We appreciate the support that Matt Rollins and Ben Renfrow has for what we do at Diamond Prospects.
Good Eats: We would also like to thank Steve and Amy Parr at Bellacino’s of Easley for providing the food for all coaches, staff and scouts in attendance. Well-organized and gracious for the service they provided for everyone.
