A splendid culmination to a 6-week fall league of baseball fun, skill development and memories occurred this evening at the Winthrop University Ballpark. Two all-star teams chosen from a 13 team league charged onto a NCAA D-1 field and competed in a 7-inning match-up.
No event such as this happens magically without a large group of people working together to make it a special night and this event was no exception. Many and sincere THANKS to Winthrop University, Head WU Coach Tom Riginos and his staff, the coaches of the league’s teams, the numerous ancillary helpers, the player’s parents and, of course, the players themselves.
And last but not least, we had a “special guest”, Diamond Prospects (DP) owner Austin Alexander. He was on site taking in the whole display, doing what head honchos who care do - meeting and speaking with others about the league – how did you like it, how can we make it even better, etc., etc.
The National League All-Stars made up of players from Indian Land HS, Northwestern HS, York Comprehensive HS & Andrew Jackson HS went out to an early lead and never relinquished it. The American League All-Stars had players from Rock Hill HS, Nation Ford HS, Clover HS, York Prep Academy and a representative from Westminster Catawba HS.
