-Gators Take Game One in Extras-
DP was on hand tonight to catch the first game of the 5A State Championship as the baseball gods kept the rain away from the Midlands and first pitch was set for 7:00. The Northwestern Trojans made the trip down I-77 then I-20 heading into Lexington for a showdown with the River Bluff Gators. I knew when I arrived at the ballpark about an hour early that this was going to be a great crowd, because people were already in stands claiming their spots. Where I sat behind home plate, a family with KFC was already posted up and ready for the game to start. It was just a great evening for baseball and the incredible atmosphere made it even better. If you’ve ever been to River Bluff’s athletic complex, it’s beyond very nice. With the stands already packed and spectators wanting to see the action, they got creative. Many people took to the stair cases of the football field press box and some even sat on top of the press box from atop right field. It was very cool to see how many people came out to the game tonight. My prediction before the game was that it was going to be a dogfight all night and it sure was. Now to the action.
